Week Two!

Another great week I have to say! This week I started to watch the series “Ways of Seeing” by John Berger. I learned all about how photography made art accessible to everyone and that it allowed us to see things that weren’t directly in front of us. I also began the chapter “Surveyors and Surveyed” from a book by Derrick Price. It really dove into documentary photography and tackled ideas like, digital work, authenticity, and combat photography. It highlighted why humans accepted photography so quickly, one reason being that it confirmed things we didn’t know before. I have only really gotten into the issues and definitions part of the chapter but am excited to learn more from it! At the end of the week I got a lot of practice at both the varsity basketball games Friday night and the Art Show on Saturday (which was amazing btw). I tried to use some notes I got from Mrs Effron and tried to tell the story of what it is like to be in Kirby Gym on a Friday night. Hopefully when I am done sorting through the photos I can share some on here later this week. So excited for my next week!
